General Terms and Conditions Escape Leipzig

§ 1 Scope and provider

These terms apply to all bookings, requests and voucher purchases between you as a consumer and Artur Hammerschmidt (sole proprietorship), Burgstraße 2, 04109 Leipzig (referred to below as “we” or “Escape Leipzig”). A consumer is any natural person who enters into a transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business or profession.

You can book in German or in English. The language of the contract is German; the German version of these terms is the one that applies, and this English version is for your information only. We use the informal “du” with you, because that suits us. Any differing terms of yours do not become part of the contract unless we expressly agree to them applying.

§ 2 Conclusion of contract

Online booking. On our website www.escapeleipzig.de you book through our own booking system. The presentation of our rooms and time slots is not yet an offer, it is an invitation to you to submit a booking. You choose the experience, the time slot and the number of people, enter your contact details and can add a voucher or discount code. By clicking the button “Zahlungspflichtig buchen” (on the English page: “Book with obligation to pay”) you submit a binding offer (§ 312j Abs. 3 BGB). We accept it with our booking confirmation, which you will get straight afterwards on the confirmation page and by email. That concludes the contract.

Request. Some time slots are only available on request, for example slots at very short notice. By clicking the button “Zahlungspflichtig anfragen” (on the English page: “Request with obligation to pay”) you submit an offer that does not bind you until we confirm it: until then you can withdraw your request at any time free of charge, using the link in your request email or by email to info@escapeleipzig.de. The contract is concluded when we confirm by email; only from then on is the booking binding. If we cannot confirm by the requested start time, the request lapses and we will let you know by email. If the time slot is less than 48 hours away when we confirm, the cancellation rule in § 4 applies from the moment of confirmation.

Buying a voucher. You order value vouchers on www.escapeleipzig.de. You choose the value, enter your details and decide whether we should also send you a printed voucher by post. By clicking the button “Zahlungspflichtig bestellen” (on the English page: “Order with obligation to pay”) you submit a binding offer and are taken to our payment service provider Mollie to pay. We will confirm by email that your order has arrived. We accept your offer by sending you the voucher by email, which we do as soon as your payment has reached us.

These terms becoming part of the contract. Directly above each of these buttons we point out these terms and link to them; for bookings and requests with a fixed date it also says there that there is no right of withdrawal. By submitting, you agree that these terms apply.

Contract text and input errors. Before you submit, you will see the key details (experience, time slot, number of people, price) once more. Until you click the button, you can change any entry directly in the form or go back with your browser's back function. We store the contract text, meaning your booking or order details, in our booking system. You will get it together with these terms by email, and with the “Manage your booking” link in that email you can open your booking again. You can also view, save and print these terms at any time at www.escapeleipzig.de/agb/.

Booking in exceptional cases. Bookings generally run through our website. We do not take bookings over the phone. In special cases, for example large groups, company events or the redemption of vouchers, we also arrange things by email or by phone and enter the booking for you. A contract then only comes into being once we have expressly confirmed it in text form, which means by email. We point out to you beforehand that these terms apply and tell you where you can read them (www.escapeleipzig.de/agb/); we attach them to the confirmation.

§ 3 Prices and payment

The price that applies is the one shown during the booking process for the experience, time slot and number of people you have chosen. All prices are final prices and include statutory VAT. There are no hidden charges (§ 312a Abs. 3 BGB).

Time slots are paid for on site: in cash, by card or by PayPal. Companies with a billing address can also pay by invoice. You do not pay anything online in advance for a time slot.

Online you only pay for value vouchers and for cancellation fees under § 4. This runs through our payment service provider Mollie (Mollie B.V., Amsterdam). You pay with one of the payment methods shown to you at the payment step. If you pay by bank transfer, you will get the voucher as soon as the money has arrived.

Number of people. We charge according to the number of people who actually take part on site. Every experience has a minimum number of participants, which you can see during the booking process. If you come with fewer people, you can still play, but we will charge at least the minimum number of participants for the booking. For requests for time slots that are less than 72 hours away, we charge for at least three people. You only need to tell us about a change in the number of people if there are more or fewer of you than the limits of your booking allow for. Just drop us a short message at info@escapeleipzig.de.

§ 4 Cancellation and rebooking

Plans change, we understand that. That is why you can cancel your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before your booked time slot, or move it to another free time slot. The easiest way is the “Manage your booking” link in your booking confirmation. You can also write to us by email at info@escapeleipzig.de or through the contact form on www.escapeleipzig.de. We cannot accept a cancellation over the phone. That is not red tape, it protects both sides: it means there is no doubt about when the cancellation was made.

If you cancel later than 48 hours before the time slot or do not turn up, we charge a flat compensation of 75 € per booked room. This applies regardless of whether we are able to fill the slot otherwise. You remain free to prove that we suffered no loss, or a substantially smaller one. You can pay this fee online using the payment link in our email.

§ 5 Statutory right of withdrawal

Booking with a fixed date. If you book or request a room for a specific date and a specific time, you have no statutory right of withdrawal. We provide a service in the field of leisure activities on a specific date, and for contracts of that kind the right of withdrawal is excluded by law (§ 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 9 BGB). We also point this out to you directly before you submit. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the time slot under § 4 remains unaffected by this and gives you a fair solution. A booking is binding once we confirm it, a request once we accept it.

Open value voucher. If you buy a value voucher online without a fixed date, you have a statutory right of withdrawal of fourteen days. You can also exercise it online through the “Withdraw from a contract” button (German: “Vertrag widerrufen”), which you will find in the footer of our pages and directly at www.escapeleipzig.de/widerruf/. If you withdraw, we refund the amount to you in money, to the same means of payment, and not as a replacement voucher. You will find the details and the model withdrawal form in our withdrawal policy for vouchers.

§ 6 Vouchers

Our vouchers are valid until 31 December of the third year after the year of purchase. A voucher you buy in 2026 is therefore valid until 31 December 2029 (§§ 195, 199 BGB).

You can redeem Escape Leipzig vouchers in Leipzig and equally at Escape Hannover and Escape Nienburg. When you book online, enter the code in the field for voucher and discount codes; one voucher can be applied per online booking, and we settle any further vouchers on site. You pay any remaining amount on site.

If you only redeem part of a value voucher, the remaining credit stays and you can redeem it later. The credit cannot be paid out in cash. You are welcome to pass your voucher on as a gift, it is transferable. Vouchers cannot be combined with time-limited discount promotions.

If you like, we will also send you a printed voucher by post. You will see the flat shipping fee for this in the total price before you order.

§ 7 Conditions of participation

We recommend a minimum age of 16 for taking part. Younger guests are very welcome, but have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or by an adult appointed by them. Booking through our website is reserved exclusively for people with full legal capacity (over 18).

An honest note about your health. Our rooms involve darkness, narrow spaces, loud noises, fog and light and flash effects, which can also follow one another quickly. In our VR experiences there are moving images directly in front of your eyes on top of that. A game usually lasts around 60 minutes, some experiences longer, and you spend this time in the rooms without a break.

We expressly advise against taking part if you suffer from epilepsy or light sensitivity, from claustrophobia, anxiety or panic disorders, from a cardiovascular condition, from asthma or from any other condition that these stimuli can trigger or make worse. The same applies during pregnancy and with infectious illnesses.

Whether you take part anyway is your own decision and at your own responsibility. We recommend that you discuss it with your doctor beforehand. You do not have to give us any information about your health. But if you do not tell us about something that matters for taking part, we cannot take it into account either. Our liability under § 8 remains unaffected by this.

While you are with us, our house rules apply, which you will find in the entrance area and on www.escapeleipzig.de. They are part of this contract. If someone breaches them seriously or repeatedly, for example through violence against the fittings or by putting others at risk, we may stop the game; there is no refund in that case. Where there is an objective reason, for example clearly being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we may also refuse entry.

Being on time. Please arrive on time for your start time. If you are up to 15 minutes late, we do not charge anything. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you can choose: either you play the full playing time and pay 15 € per room for each quarter of an hour of lateness that has started, or you play for correspondingly less time at no extra charge. If another group is scheduled after you or our team cannot stay longer, there is no choice: however late you are, your playing time is then shortened accordingly, at no extra charge. If you have not arrived 45 minutes after the start time and have not let us know, this counts as not turning up under § 4. If you can see that you are going to be late, give us a call or write to us, and we will find a solution together.

After the game, a refund of the price, including a partial one, is no longer possible. We may change, replace or temporarily take out of service individual puzzles or parts of the fittings for technical or operational reasons; the playing experience stays equally good. There is no claim to a particular design of a room. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

§ 8 Liability

We are liable without limitation in cases of intent and gross negligence, as well as for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, even where only slight negligence applies to us.

In the case of slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual duty (a duty whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you regularly rely), our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.

Otherwise our liability is excluded. Liability under the Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

Cloakroom and valuables. Bags, jackets and valuables that you put down before the game are not kept in safekeeping for you, and we do not take on a duty of care for them. Please take valuables into the game with you or leave them at home.

Your own glasses under the VR headset. If you wear your own glasses under the VR headset during a VR experience, you do so at your own risk. We are not liable for scratches or damage to your glasses that occur while wearing the VR headset as intended. For particularly large frames we recommend contact lenses.

Damage caused by participants. You are liable under the statutory provisions for damage to our rooms or the fittings that you cause intentionally or negligently.

The above limitations do not apply to damage arising from injury to life, body or health, and not in cases of intent or gross negligence. They also apply for the benefit of our legal representatives and vicarious agents.

§ 9 Game support by video

During the game, the game master watches the room live by video camera and listens in live, in order to guide you safely through the game, give you hints and step in immediately in an emergency. No picture or sound is recorded. You will find detailed information on data processing in our privacy policy at www.escapeleipzig.de/datenschutz/.

§ 10 Consumer dispute resolution

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

§ 11 Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies.

Should a provision of these terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected.

Withdrawal policy for open value vouchers

This withdrawal policy applies to value vouchers bought online without a fixed date. For bookings and requests of a room with a specific date and a specific time there is no right of withdrawal (§ 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 9 BGB).

Right of withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.

of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (for example a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the attached model withdrawal form, but it is not obligatory.

You can also exercise your right of withdrawal online through the “Withdraw from a contract” button (German: “Vertrag widerrufen”) on our website. You will find it in the footer of our pages or directly at www.escapeleipzig.de/en/widerruf/. If you use this online function, we will send you an acknowledgement of receipt on a durable medium (for example by email) without delay, with information about the content of your declaration of withdrawal and the date and time it arrived.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of the supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

Note on printed vouchers

When you withdraw, we block your voucher code. You do not need to send a printed voucher back to us.

Exception from the right of withdrawal

There is no right of withdrawal for contracts for the provision of services in connection with leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance (§ 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 9 BGB). If you redeem this voucher to book a specific slot (date and time) for an event, or if you buy a dated ticket directly, there is no right of withdrawal for that dated booking.

House rules Escape Leipzig

Good to have you here. So that everyone has a good game, a few simple rules:

  • Phones off, please no photos or videos. In the game room, phones and cameras stay in your bag. No photos and no videos of the puzzles, that keeps the suspense for everyone coming after you.
  • Smoke-free. There is no smoking in our rooms, and no vaping either.
  • Clear head. Taking part under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not possible. It is most fun sober anyway.
  • Be kind to the puzzles. Our rooms are built with a lot of love and a lot of technology. Please treat the fittings carefully and do not use force. If something is stuck, just ask the game master, they can hear and see you.
  • Treat people with respect. Treat your team, other guests and our team members fairly and kindly.

In the case of serious or repeated breaches, for example violence against the fittings or putting others at risk, we may stop the game. There is no claim to a refund in that case.
