Cookie policy Escape Leipzig
Version: 5 October 2026
This page sets out which cookies and which entries in your browser's local storage www.escapeleipzig.de uses, what for and for how long. We only set what is listed here. Statistics and marketing only run once you have agreed in the consent banner.
Changing your choice
With the “Analytics & cookies” link at the bottom of our pages you can open the banner again and change or withdraw your choice at any time. If you withdraw a consent, our site deletes the Google and Meta cookies of that category and reloads.
Technically necessary
The site needs these entries in order to work. No consent is needed for them (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
- escape_consent (local storage, not a cookie): stores your choice in the consent banner, meaning statistics yes or no, marketing yes or no, and the time. It stays stored until you change your choice or delete the website data.
- escape_preview (cookie): session identifier. It protects our forms against misuse, holds back accidental repeat submissions and keeps the protected puzzle area open for one hour after it has been unlocked. We only set it on pages with a form or the puzzle area; it is deleted when you close your browser.
- escape_lang (cookie): only set when you use the English version, so that the booking pages and the links in our emails also appear in English. It expires after one year; if you switch back to German, we delete it.
Statistics (only with your consent)
Google Analytics 4, provider: Google Ireland Limited. You will find the details in our privacy policy, section 5.
- _ga (cookie): tells visits apart using a random identifier. It expires after two years.
- _ga_ followed by the identifier of our Analytics account (cookie): stores the state of your current visit. It expires after two years.
With your consent our booking page also reads the identifier from the _ga cookie, so that our server can link a booking to your visit.
Marketing (only with your consent)
Meta pixel, provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, and Google's advert measurement. You will find the details in our privacy policy, sections 5 and 6.
- _fbp (cookie, Meta): recognises your browser so that we can measure how well our adverts on Facebook and Instagram work. It expires after three months.
- _fbc (cookie, Meta): only set if you come to us through an advert on Facebook or Instagram, and stores that click. It expires after three months.
- _gcl_au (cookie, Google): may be set so that Google Ads can link a booking to the right advert. It expires after three months.
- _gcl_aw (cookie, Google): only set if you come to us through a Google advert, and stores that click so that Google Ads can link a booking to that advert. It expires after three months.
What we do not use
No embedded videos, no embedded maps, no chat and no other advertising or analytics services. Our fonts are stored on our own server.
How we handle your data overall is set out in our privacy policy.
